Join owner Jerry Hibbert for a fascinating talk and closer look at the history behind Thyme’s heritage buildings, to learn about 2000 years of life at Southrop before a seasonal lunch in the Ox Barn.
The Winter Garden
Join creative garden designer Richard Miers and Daryll Taylor, Thyme’s Head Productive Gardener, for a conversation about gardening through the winter months, hosted by Tiffany Daneff, Gardens Editor at Country Life magazine. They will explore plants that bring colour and interest to the winter garden, from flowering plants and productive berries to decorative foliage and vegetables that can be grown and harvested throughout the season.
They will also share practical advice on making the most of the quieter winter months, including how to prepare and restore plants, buildings and equipment ready for spring. Richard will showcase some of his contemporary winter garden designs, offering inspiration for creating gardens that remain productive and engaging throughout the year.
Festive Jazz in the Baa Bar
Join the stylish James Hamilton Maddock Jazz duo for a festive pre-dinner drinks party in the Baa Bar from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. Enjoy live saxaphone and double bass with canapés and apéritifs. Dinner reservations at The Ox Barn or The Swan are available from 8:00pm.
Painted Box Workshop with Melissa White
Join decorative artist Melissa White for a magical workshop, painting wooden boxes ideal for gifting or storage with chalk paints from Annie Sloan.
Inspired by Elizabethan wall paintings, Melissa will share processes of layering, mark-making, distressing and waxing, creating mythical scenes, of Nymphs, Satyrs and white harts roaming the yuletide forests.
All materials, boxes, refreshments and a seasonal, locally sourced, sharing plate lunch are included.
