In 1988, four friends led by the legendary winemaker Aurelio Montes dared to challenge the status quo of the Chilean wine industry. At a time when Chile was known mainly for inexpensive wines, they believed the country could produce wines that would stand proudly among the finest in the world. From the beginning, Montes was driven by a pioneering spirit. The company launched Montes Alpha, widely recognised as Chile's first premium wine.
