Join decorative artist Melissa White for a yuletide workshop, painting wooden boxes ideal for gifting or storage with gorgeous chalk paints from Annie Sloan.
Capturing the creative spirit of The Bloomsbury Group, Melissa will guide participants through playful pattern-making and decorative paint techniques. Guests will learn how to build textured layers and paint simple designs - from festive motifs to figurative elements if they choose. Finally, the boxes are distressed and antiqued for an heirloom quality finish.
Melissa White is a painter and surface pattern designer, whose practice is rooted in historical decoration, with a leaning towards the expressive tradition of folk art interiors. She specialises in translating heritage motifs into hand painted murals, wallpapers, fabrics and objects, using bespoke techniques to recreate the rich texture and patina of time.
Her work includes original commissions and commercial collections, alongside designs for brands such as Zoffany, Lewis & Wood and Kit Kemp. Throughout the Summer of 2026, she was one of three featured artists in the Modern Muralists exhibition here at Thyme.
All materials, boxes, refreshments and a seasonal, locally sourced, sharing plate lunch are included.
