Join globally celebrated cellists Julian and Jiaxin Lloyd Webber for an evening exploring the life and music of Bach. Seated in Thyme’s beautiful Tithe Barn, lit by candles and lanterns, Julian will narrate the story of Bach, whilst his wife Jiaxin will perform a selection of his suites.
Guests will be welcomed to the event with a drinks and canapes reception, before being seated for the hour long performance. Throughout Julian will explain the history of Bach’s suites as Jiaxin performs them on cello.
Julian LLoyd Webber OBE, grew up in one of the worlds most famous musical dynasties. He was the first classical musician to reach mainstream fame, when the 1978 album Variations, written by his brother Andrew, reached the UK album charts at number 2.
Throughout his career, Julian has collaborated with Yehudi Menuhin, Neville Marriner, Stephane Grappelli, Joaquin Rodrigo, Philip Glass and Elton John. A refreshingly honest and humorous speaker, Julian has a lifelong passion, that every child should have the chance to play a musical instrument. He has campaigned for music in education and held the principal position at the Royal Conservatoire. He is also the creator and presenter of Classic FM and Sky Art’s Rising Stars series. Earlier this year he released his second autobiography Bows and Arrows.
Julian and his wife Jiaxin, divide their time between their family homes in London and The Cotswolds. Jiaxin studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, before joining the Auckland Philharmonia and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. She has frequented the Classical music charts and spent many weeks at number one with the duo’s album ‘A Tale Of Two Cello’s’ in 2013.
Guests attending this sublime concert, are invited to join us for a formal supper in the Ox Barn from 7.30pm
