Join us this April for a panel discussion exploring how thoughtful design choices can support a more sustainable way of living.
The talk brings together respected voices from across interiors, textiles and sustainability, including Edward Bulmer, founder of Edward Bulmer Natural Paint; Jamie Shawcross, Director of Fermoie; Amelia Gilman, founder of interior design studio Mimi Montagu; and Mary Fellowes, a long-standing authority on sustainable materials and former editor across multiple editions of Vogue. The panel will share their principles and processes, along with the stories behind their success, and offer practical tips and insights for using environmentally responsible, low-tox materials.
Following the talk, there will be time for an audience Q&A and a book signing with Edward Bulmer. Guests will also be able to view a selection of the latest fabric and paint samples from Edward Bulmer Natural Paint and Fermoie.

Edward Bulmer
Edward has spent more than four decades working within some of Britain’s most distinguished buildings. A leading interior designer, architectural historian, and colour maestro, he is best known for his sensitive restoration of historic houses, where deep knowledge of conservation is matched by an instinctive eye for proportion, palette, and detail. His work brings new life to heritage interiors while ensuring they remain relevant for contemporary living.
Frustrated by the absence of truly natural paints that did not compromise on depth of colour, quality or coverage, Edward founded his paint company with his wife, Emma. Made with natural ingredients, the paints have a living finish, allow breathability, and have a unique response to light- free from indoor pollutants. The colour library is drawn from Edward’s passion for architectural history. Multiple awards have been awarded to Edward Bulmer Natural Paint, including the House & Garden ‘Responsible Design Award’, B Corp, Grosvenor's ‘Sustainability Leader’, and ‘The Conscious Award’ from Country & Townhouse.
Jamie Shawcross
With a background in manufacturing and the creative industries, Jamie has been with Fermoie since its launch in 2012 and works closely with founders Martin Ephson and Tom Helme on the business’s growth and strategic direction. As managing director, he heads our team of over 50 people and has day-to-day responsibility for overseeing and developing sales in the UK, USA, Europe and further afield.
Amelia Gilman
Amelia Gilman is the co-founder of the interior design and antiques studio Mimi Montagu, based between London and Wiltshire. After a decade working in fashion across London and Italy, she retrained at the Inchbald School of Design and went on to establish the studio alongside her business partner, George.
The studio offers a comprehensive interior design service, as well as colour and fabric consultations and tailored guidance for clients seeking help with a specific room. In addition, the team undertakes interior styling for commercial and editorial shoots.
Amelia’s work is rooted in sustainability, low-tox living and environmental responsibility. Her approach reflects a deep respect for historic buildings and a commitment to traditional methods and responsibly sourced materials wherever possible. The studio is recognised for creating interiors that feel lived-in and thoughtfully composed, blending antiques, rich textiles and contemporary craftsmanship.
Mary Fellowes
Mary Fellowes, a former editor across multiple Vogues and Hollywood tastemaker, has now been a sustainable materials and textiles expert since before the pandemic.
As well as being the founder of Greenwith Studio, a boutique advisory for luxury and lifestyle brands, she is an Executive Fellow at King’s College, sustainability ambassador for the UK Children’s Parliament, board advisor to circular clothing charity Give Your Best, and has authored a white paper for the British Fashion Council on the consumer as citizen in the new circular economies. She also now adds Mall Studios as another feather in her cap. While designed primarily as a private home, her studio has been restored and transformed. As well as existing partnerships in place with iconic industry names, later this year, the studio will play host to events aimed at driving awareness around cleaner, more holistic ways of living.
