REJUVENATION

The inspiration for our spa, The Meadow is nature and light.
It is well known that reconnecting to nature and an opportunity to reflect in an atmosphere of stillness and calm reduces stress, makes us kinder, happier, more creative.
The starting point was an old historic wall in the gardens of The Lodge.
It stood sadly alone, the original garden greenhouse having fallen into disrepair had been completely demolished some years earlier. The opportunity to rebuild this as the centre of our new spa was an exciting one. Needing extensive underpinning the original historic and listed wall is now firmly at the heart of the building. It is a lovely sun-filled space which exudes a serene tranquillity. The floor is tiled in green and white, a modern take on the traditional English greenhouse. Hand-made and hexagonal in shape they are reminiscent of a honeycomb and are the start of the bee theme that runs through to our treatment rooms in the adjacent cottage.
Meadow Cottage has five treatment rooms; ‘nectar’, ‘pollen’, ‘honey’, ‘bumble’ and ‘queen bee’; and a relaxation room with spacious window seats that allow you to relax and gaze out at the adjacent garden, meadows and farm. This connection to the outside, to fresh air, to light and to nature was something we wanted to be at the core of our very English country spa; the green colours used throughout help merge inside effortlessly to out.
The restful effect of green is well-proven; the overriding colour of nature, it symbolises renewal, good luck and good health and helps to create an equilibrium of both body and mind.
These two buildings are joined by delightful gardens designed by Bunny Guinness who has helped us with all our garden spaces. A path leads up to the walled swimming pool and yoga studios, a sheltered spot even on cooler days, warmth radiating from the Cotswold stone walls. The swimming pool is gorgeous. The natural black slate pool is filled with our own spring water and is filtered through an innovative ceramic biodynamic filter meaning it needs no chemicals or salt at all.

We are delighted to be working with Aurelia Probiotic Skincare, founded by Clare Vero. Sharing a mutual philosophy for natural ingredients and a ‘love of the land’, treatments are tailored specifically for mind and body harnessing unique probiotic ingredients to protect, restore and balance the skin from within.
In the greenhouse there is a water bar. Using our own spring water, herbs from the garden, and honey from our bees, we offer cold, hot or fizzy infusions and sodas; or enjoy a shot of kefir, the perfect pairing with Aurelia’s probiotic treatments. Our greenhouse menu is designed to promote beauty from within, both rehydrating and boosting inner beauty through supporting the gut biome.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing with you our love of the land.  If you are interested in yoga classes and the final phase of the development of the Meadow Spa, the private thermal suite ... sign up to our newsletter here.
