This is a very personal project which has taken over 12 years to complete.
I have been lucky enough to have worked with my father the physicist and entrepreneur Michael Bertioli and together we have gradually restored the huge barns and farm buildings. It has been a journey where we have all learnt a great deal. The aim has been to preserve their huge internal spaces, respect their architecture and agricultural heritage but at the same time give them modern purpose so that it ensures their survival into the next generation.
Three generations have been involved, not only my parents, but my long-suffering husband Jerry Hibbert, an animator & film director, whose artistic touches have been invaluable over the years and our three children, who have grown up in an environment where food and the love of the land is at the heart of family life. I hope it has been an inspirational upbringing - with one son working alongside Jeremy Lee in the kitchens at Soho's Quo Vadis, I think it might have been.
